Impeachment
So how did we get to this point? How did we end up trying to impeach a president for the 3rd time since the establishment of the United States. Well for President Trump it instigated primarily from that of the Ukrainian “conflict”. It sparked from a meeting that was supposed to be about foreign aid but that quickly turned into a more quid pro quo based interaction with the ‘favor’ being an investigation of Hunter Biiden, former Vice President, Joe Biden’s son. Now, withholding 400 million in aid for such a reason is (to me) undoubtedly illegal and at the very minimum an abuse of power on the president's behalf. As well, this impeachment process surpassed the inquiry stage and the House of Representatives voted to send it to the Senate for a trail. However, many Republicans have already said that they will acquit Trump and many have also voted to prevent further telestrations from new witnesses. This means that the Democrats are facing a rather substantial amount of pushback from the Republicans and that they will continue to for the remainder of this process.
In my opinion I believe he should be impeached because (at the minimum) I see his involvement with Ukraine to be very unpresidential but I also realize that it is very likely that he will be acquitted. Despite this, I do not see this as having been a waste of energy, time, or money in accordance to the American people. I believe that it was a necessary move for the democrats not only because what he did was unlawful but also because of what it shows. It shows that despite these somewhat nastty political conditions we have been in for the past 4 years that the nation still has morals and that this issue (and others) reached beyond that and so the fact that they weren’t leef to sit and the fact that they were acted on I believe really means something, even if the intended outcome was never accomplished.
