1. The International Monetary fund (IMF), is an economic organization that provides economic advice for different countries, promotes economic stability, and works to reduce poverty rates. Currently, they are working with Argentina to improve their economy in financial situation. Since the countries economy crashed recently, the Argentinian government has spent billions of dollars trying to stabilize it's currency and prevent further inflation. The country IMF officials have met with the current president, the front-runner of the Argentinian presidential election, and several other officials to discuss their plans for improving the countries economic situation. Despite this situation being a very risky one, the IMF has decided to remain engaged with Argentina, and help them with their economy until it has improved.
2. The United Nations is the largest intergovernmental organization in the world, with 193 member states. One of their major pillars as an organization is to promote peace and human rights across the world. It is for this reason why the UN has called for an investigation against Venezuela for human rights abuses. This is amidst food and medicine shortages running rampant throughout the country, with the country slowly slipping into a dictatorship. With president Maduro denying these allegations, the UN will most likely follow through with this investigation to uncover what really is happening.
3. The European Union (EU) is a hybrid intergovernmental organization, whose members are located primarily in Europe. It allows for free trade, and open borders between its members, and it is a political and economic superpower in the world. A major issue that has been going on with the EU is Brexit, where Great Britain is trying to leave the EU. This would turn the borders of the UK into hard borders, which could disrupt trade, and cause conflict on their borders. Without the many of the benefits of the EU things could turn out poorly for Britain, but only time will tell.
4. North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is a military alliance of 29 countries, with many other countries who are allied with them. Most recently in the news, tensions between Russia and NATO have been rising, with both sides having naval units in the northern Atlantic and the arctic. This tension has been rising since 2014, when Russia invaded Crimea. As part of the treaty, if one member state of NATO is attacked, then all of them will respond. If tensions were to rise even further between NATO and Russia, NATO would have a large military to call on if things were to get violent. Along with this, NATO has an extensive list of allies, who would likely come to their aid in the event of a violent conflict.
