3 Types of Power
In America is it highly uncommon to use trains in transportation. Americans might use the Metro train, or small trains to get from one terminal to the next in an airport, but travelling on a train for more than an hour in this country is often just about unheard of. There are a few passenger train lines that will take you from city to city, but these lines are slowly dying out with the lack of people using them. It's much easier and to take a car, bus, or plane. However, this is unusual in the grand scheme of things compared to other countries. If you look at Europe, one could travel throughout the countries and towns exclusively by train and easily get just about anywhere. Geography helps in this case, but there is still a lot of effort on Europe's part in bringing together such vast train lines. Despite the fact that Spain, Germany, and France have some of the most kilometres of high speed railways in the world, none of them combined come close to China. This superpower has been slowly building up its train lines and now has the most kilometres of high speed railways of any country. This seems like a smart power move, in its subtle way, the entire country of China has slowly become more and more connected. And they aren't connected by just anything, they're connected by high-speed trains which at their fastest can travel 217 miles per hour. This is not as fast as a plane, sure, but hypothetically one could transport a vast number of soldiers and supplies at one time, to any area of the country. Additionally, these railways are being used strategically in other countries, such as Kenya. China has been paying to set up complex, i.e. expensive, railway systems in Kenya, and China has been footing the bill. This can't last forever, and Kenya has slowly realized, along with the rest of the world, that they are very much in debt with China. Pretty smart, huh?
