Impeachment

I want to start off my blog by talking about what impeachment is because I feel that so many people have the wrong idea. I have heard so many say, "he isn't impeached yet," which isn't really how this process works. As of this very moment, our current president has in fact been impeached but he has not been removed from office. Impeachment does not mean immediate removal from office which is something a lot of people think. The impeachment process is often very long and calls into account what the president at the time has done wrong and what the next move should be, it can be compared to a criminal proceeding, then the house will vote on whether they believe he should be impeached or not. In the current impeachment trial, the House majority voted to impeach. He is being voted, "on a charge of abusing his office and a charge of obstructing Congress." The main people we are watching in the trial (outside of Donald Trump) are the following: Mike Pence, the current vice president who was involved in Donald Trump's contact with Ukraine; Jennifer Williams who listened in on the call on July 25th; Mick Mulvaney, the acting chief of staff who withheld aid in exchange of an investigation; Pat Cipollone, the white house council; and Alexander Vindman who is an expert on European affairs. We are also watching both current and former Trump administration and staff such as: Mike Pompeo; John Bolton; Fiona Hill; William Barr; Rick Perry; and Laura Cooper. In summary, this is what's happening, In September someone reported, "Trump used "the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 U.S. election." According to reports, Trump was trying to gather information on Joe Biden. There are so many potential outcomes that could come of this but we can't yet be sure about any of them, because the case is still going on, but we do know that Trump can either be voted to remain in office or be removed. Even if Trump is not removed, there is an upcoming election where we can vote on a new representative for our country.
