Impeachment
Before I explain where we are currently at in the impeachment process, I will go over what has happened to get us to this point. The main reason President Trump has found himself in this situation is because he was accused of trying to blackmail Ukraine's government into helping him. He wanted them to find potentially bad information about one of his main competitors, Joe Biden. He allegedly told the Ukrainian government that if they didn't do this for him he would withhold military aid from them. This military aid (400 million dollars) had already been approved by congress. The people who are leading the impeachment process, which is mainly democrats, view this as an abuse of power, which is why they are pursuing impeachment. The impeachment process is under way, as it has already been passed in the house of representatives. The next step is for it to go to the Senate, which is where the actual impact will take place. If the senate chooses to impeach President Trump, he will be removed from office and Mike Pence will become President. If the senate does not choose to impeach him, President Trump will remain in office. I have extremely mixed feelings on this topic for a variety of reasons. First, I think that what President Trump did was wrong and he should be held accountable for it. However at the same time, I do not want to see Mike Pence as president, which is what makes this situation confusing for me. In the end, I think that no matter who you are, you should not be able to get away with breaking the law, which is why I think I want to see President Trump impeached. This situation is very messy and starting to become very annoying for the American people.
