impeachment
The article I chose was Trump Impeachment: a very simple guide since I don't know much about what impeachment means. In this article, it starts off with the reason for impeachment, which is whether or not he got help from Ukraine to raise his chances for re-election in 2020. Trump ended up getting impeached after his hearing, which makes him the 3rd president in US history to get impeached. this article then explains his wrongdoing deeper, saying how he pressured Ukraine to find damaging information on his main opponent in the 2020 election, Joe Biden, and hunter, his son. Hunter worked for a Ukranian company during Bidens run as the Vice president. Trump tried to seduce Ukraine for this information by withholding 400m of military aid, and bargaining chips. Democrats are calling this an abuse of power, since it was for personal gain, and was a detriment of national security. The money given to Ukraine was used to further intensify the conflict with Russia. Another thing against Trump is that he is obstructing Congress by not complying with the congressional inquiry. Donald Trump had called Volodymyr Zelinsky to ask him to find "dirt" so to speak, on Biden and his son, and this event is what kickstarted the impeachment process. This call proceeded Trump's call to block the military aid to Ukraine, which depended on whether or not Biden would be investigated.
I think this is an interesting point of view, because it only gives me, the reader, facts. Trump's story which was presented later on in this article was turning everything around to show he didn't do this to get dirt on him, and how it was turning into a "witch hunt" and just totally lying and switching up the story to turn him into the hero of the situation. As someone who knows very little about politics, this helps me understand better why people don't like Trump, besides the fact that I already know he's racist, sexist, and is trying to pass laws for things I don't believe in.
