The Ukraine Conflict- Economic Military Power Balances and Economic Sanctions
In past years the evolution and outcomes of conflicts such as those in Europe are starting to draw attention to the seriousness of the matter.  Ukraine’s conflict has been a power struggle that has involved the European Union and Russia. They have been influenced by the dynamics of technological, economic, and military balances, which is then affected by the economic warfare and sanctions that have been used. The conflict is still going off of the outcomes made from 2014-2016. This caused changes with Russia NATO that then lead to imbalances between Russia and Ukraine’s military capabilities, neglecting their efforts to use economic sanctions. Russia had claimed that the reasoning for them occupying Ukraine's Crimean peninsula was to protect the port access near the black sea. Along with this Ukraine was planning on developing Crimea’s natural gas reserve with the help of U.S. companies, if this was succeeded it would have lead to Russia losing one of its largest customers. From 2014-2018 Russian ships attacked and boarded three Ukrainian vessels in the Crimean port near the Black Sea, stating that they had violated Russian waters even though they had both signed an agreement in 2003 saying that they can pass through for free.
