- UN organization (UNICEF)
On October 11, 2018 UNICEF continued their work in Asia and the Paciif by renewing their partnership with the Asian Development Bank. The goal of this partnership it to promote health and improve the issues of poverty in the area. The two organizations have a goal of helping children, young adults, and women to access health, nutrition, necessary hygiene needs, education, and overall everything needed for healthy development. This is an issue that children are clearly facing because 36% of children in South Asia are facing stunted growth. In addition, within Asia and the Pacific 40% of children are not in secondary school. UNICEF with the help of ADB is hoping to be able to build on their partnership in coming years to face even bigger issues.
- IGO (World Bank)
On September 23, 2019 the World Bank and Germany shared their plans for a program to improve the world's environment. The plan included fighting deforestation, reducing greenhouse gases, restoring degraded lands, biodiversity, and improving rural areas. This program called PROGREEN plans to bring together groups that are currently worsening the issues and find ways to counteract that. A lot of sectors that are causing major land deterioration are agriculture, infrastructure, and mining. PROGREEN will be assisting these sectors in finding better more environmentally friendly ways to go about things as well as providing funding to change the current policies. The goal is for all countries to be able to reach their Sustainable Development Goals.
- Collective Security or Hybrid IGO (AU)
The African Union has lifted the suspension on Sudan from participating in AU activities as of September 6, 2019. The suspension had been placed in June following the removal of their long-term president Omar al-Bashir. By removing the president Sudan no longer had a civilian led government. However, the suspension was able to be lifted because Sudan now has a Prime Minister named Abdalla Hamdok who has formed a cabinet and made a three year power-sharing agreement between the military, civilians, and protestors. The foreign minister for Sudan shared after the suspension was lifted, “(We) use this great occasion to reaffirm our commitment to the goals and objectives of the African Union."
- Treaties or Strategic Alliances (The Paris Agreement)
The Paris Agreement was formed on November 4, 2016 with the goal of bringing many nations together to fight against climate change. The initial convention brought together 55 parties that collectively account for around 55% of global greenhouse gases. The goal is to have the global temperature rise for this century to stay well under 2 degrees celsius and in the future keep it under 1.5 degrees increase. The Paris Agreement is in hopes of having a global response that will have true effort displayed by all parties. The Agreement will be working towards the goal by implementing new technology, financial flows, and enhancing the building framework.
