Thousand Strong
In 2009 President Obama launched something called 100,000 Strong. 100,000 Strong campaign is a campaign that was meant to strengthen the US-China relationship. In 2013 the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced the establishment of the 100,000 Strong Foundation. The foundation was an independent nonprofit as a means to strengthen relationships between oncoming leaders of the US and China. In 2014, 100,000 American students were sent to study abroad in China and the foundation continues to work with partners across the country to bring to light the importance of studying abroad, the main purpose of 100,000 Strong.
This campaign is an example of soft power. This is because no one is being forced to do anything the is not wanted and the campaign is beneficial to both parties. The campaign promotes diversity in both countries. "The mission remains- to continue increasing the number of US students studying in China"(https://100kstrong.org/initiatives/100k-strong/).
